The foundation of my therapeutic approach rests on compassion, openness, empathy, and connection. Growth is possible in an environment that nurtures trust and honesty. I believe the best thing you can bring to therapy is authenticity. In so many areas of our lives we’re supposed to perform a role: spouse, employee, friend, parent – the list of our expected behavior can seem endless. In therapy, you’re free to be yourself. I want to meet the real you and in return, I promise to bring acceptance, consideration, and humor along with evidence-based practices.
I am a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Marriage and Family Counseling program. I’ve been a licensed counselor in Texas for over 20 years and a counselor supervisor for over 10 years. In that time, I’ve been heavily influenced by Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness-based therapies. This combination of training has provided me with a broad palate of emotional, spiritual, and scientific frameworks all designed toward a holistic, mind-body model rather than a sickness approach to counseling. Instead of discussing faults and illness, I prefer to talk about strengths, possibilities, and you as a whole person.
